Dali Mpofu

Advocate Daluxolo Mpofu, formerly Group CEO of the SABC, boasts an illustrious law career and brings a wealth of experience in the information and communication technologies and broadcasting sectors.

In 1996 and 1997, Advocate Mpofu held the position of Trainee International Advocacy Teacher at Grays Inn, London – a prestigious body of barristers in the United Kingdom. In 2000 he was appointed by the Minister of Justice to the position of acting judge in the Labour Court of South Africa.
Later in the same year, Advocate Mpofu was appointed Group Executive Director for Corporate Affairs by the Altron Group, a proudly South African, and information and communications Technology Company. He held this position until his appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer at the South African Broadcasting Corporation in August 2005.

His responsibilities at the Altron Group were broad-based and included overseeing the following functions: group communications; group human resources development; black economic empowerment initiatives; stakeholder relations and international relations.

Advocate Mpofu holds BProc (1998) and LLB (1992) degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. Other professional qualifications include a certificate in Finance and Accounting. He is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

He matriculated at the Mzomhle High School in East London.Advocate Mpofu served as the inaugural Chairperson on the National Anti-Corruption Forum. He also serves on the Council of the University of Johannesburg as a ministerial representative.

He is also the president of SABA (Southern African Broadcasters Association) and has recently been appointed chairman of the Proudly South African Campaign, and as chair of the leadership committee of the Global Media Aids Initiative (GMAI), a United Nations initiative to fight HIV/Aids.
